Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated that some Republicans are straying from their “America First” principles, expressing her views to Axios on Thursday that aspects of President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda may not align with this philosophy. She noted, “It’s a revolving door at the White House of foreign leaders when Americans are screaming from their lungs.” Greene raised concerns regarding the focus on foreign conflicts, suggesting it runs counter to the core promise of the MAGA movement to prioritize U.S. workers and families.
In addition, Greene diverged from party leadership on domestic issues, joining Democrats in advocating for a continuation of expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies. She criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for not addressing health care or inflation, which she described as problematic for the middle class.
Greene referred to the administration’s $40 billion bailout of Argentina as “America Last,” claiming it neglects the needs of struggling U.S. farmers. She also voiced concerns about inconsistent tariff policies, indicating that manufacturers face uncertainty regarding potential changes.
Despite her criticisms, Greene expressed support for Trump’s broader trade objectives and dismissed speculation about her potential departure from the GOP. She highlighted the seriousness of division within the country and stated that her focus continues to be on assisting ordinary Americans.
