Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) voiced support for President-elect Trump’s Pentagon nominee Pete Hegseth, dismissing anonymous allegations as insufficient to derail his confirmation. Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Graham said he is comfortable with Hegseth’s nomination unless new credible evidence emerges.
“These allegations are disturbing, but they’re anonymous,” Graham said, referencing claims of mismanagement, drinking problems, and inappropriate comments. He added that Hegseth denied the accusations, including an alleged statement about harming Muslims, and pledged to release an accuser from their non-disclosure agreement if they wished to come forward.
Drawing parallels to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s contentious confirmation process, Graham warned against allowing unverified claims to block Hegseth’s nomination. “If people have allegations, they should come forward. Right now, he’s being tried by anonymous sources. That will not stand,” he said.
