Democratic voters appear increasingly energized heading into the next election cycle, with 72% saying they’re “extremely motivated” to vote, according to a new CNN/SSRS poll. That figure represents a 10-point jump since October for Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters.

In contrast, only 50% of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters now say they’re extremely motivated to vote—a 17-point drop from the 67% reported in October. In September, enthusiasm across both parties was nearly even at 68%.

This enthusiasm gap could provide an edge for Democrats as they try to regain ground in Congress. In the 2024 elections, Republicans secured majorities in both chambers after Democrats retained the Senate and lost the House in 2022.

The poll was conducted July 10–13 with 1,057 respondents and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. The findings come amid ongoing policy debates and growing opposition within both parties over issues like immigration enforcement and economic strategy.
