A new NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll shows that approval of congressional Republicans has reached a record high, with 36% of registered voters giving their approval, the highest level since the poll began asking the question in 2011. The previous high was 33% in March 2015.
The June 23–25 survey revealed a 10-point jump from February 2024, when only 26% approved of Republicans’ performance. The increase comes as the GOP now controls both chambers of Congress.
Meanwhile, congressional Democrats are seeing their worst marks in years. Only 27% of voters approve of their performance, down 12 points from early 2024 and matching the party’s lowest rating since 2011.
Approval among independents is low for both parties—25% for Republicans and 20% for Democrats—but GOP members show stronger internal support: 73% of Republicans approve of their congressional leadership, compared to just 44% of Democrats.
The poll surveyed 1,206 registered voters and has a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points.
