Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) has introduced legislation to establish June 14—President Donald Trump’s birthday and Flag Day—as a federal public holiday. The Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act seeks to recognize Trump’s contributions to the nation, similar to how George Washington’s birthday is a federal holiday.
Tenney, a vocal supporter of Trump, described him as the “founder of America’s Golden Age” and stated that the bill would ensure his legacy is “forever enshrined in law.” If enacted, federal employees would receive June 14 as a paid holiday. The bill, H.R. 1395, has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where it must pass before proceeding further in the legislative process.
The proposal is the latest effort by GOP lawmakers to commemorate Trump. Other recent bills include renaming Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump and renaming Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland.” The legislation’s future remains uncertain as it awaits committee consideration.
