A Georgia judge has temporarily halted a rule requiring poll workers to hand-count ballots soon after polls close, a policy backed by allies of former President Donald Trump. Judge Robert McBurney granted the pause after election officials argued that poll workers couldn’t be trained in time for the upcoming election. The rule, introduced late by Trump-aligned members of the Georgia State Election Board, was seen as a potential cause of delays and errors.
The ruling could be appealed, leaving its future uncertain for upcoming elections.
