Jack Danaher Molloy, a dual U.S.-Irish citizen and former Army soldier, has been indicted for attempting to support Hezbollah, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday. Arrested in Chicago on December 6, Molloy is accused of traveling to Lebanon in August 2024 and Syria in October 2024 to join the group, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S.

Prosecutors allege Molloy promoted violence against Jewish people on social media and told a family member his “master plan” was to join Hezbollah and “kill Jews.” His efforts to join the group were unsuccessful, but he allegedly continued attempting to connect with them after returning to the U.S.

Molloy, who briefly served in the U.S. Army in 2019, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of providing material support to a terrorist organization.
