Mike Gill, a former official in the Trump administration and a senior vice president for capital markets at the Housing Policy Council, died following an attempted carjacking in downtown Washington, D.C. His wife, Kristina Gill, announced the tragic news, highlighting the profound loss felt by his family. Gill, a father of three, was remembered for his devotion to family and his impactful professional and personal life.

The incident occurred on the 900 block of K Street NW, where Artell Cunningham, 28, fatally shot Gill. Cunningham’s crime spree continued with further attempted and successful carjackings, leading to another victim’s death. The spree ended when Cunningham, after engaging in gunfire with police, was shot and later died in hospital.

Gill’s contributions extended beyond his professional achievements; he was lauded for his service to his country, city, church, and community. The Department of Justice has announced measures to combat the rising violent crime and carjackings in Washington, reflecting on the urgent need to address these concerns.
