A Florida judge temporarily blocked the transfer of a prime 3-acre parcel in downtown Miami designated for President Donald Trump’s future presidential library. The decision by Circuit Judge Mavel Ruiz followed a lawsuit alleging Miami Dade College violated Florida’s open government law by not providing sufficient public notice before voting to give the land to the state.

Judge Ruiz said her ruling was “not rooted in politics,” emphasizing transparency concerns. The land, valued at over $67 million, sits along Biscayne Boulevard and could be worth hundreds of millions more, according to local appraisers.

The state, led by Governor Ron DeSantis and his cabinet, later transferred the land to Trump’s foundation, overseen by Eric Trump, Michael Boulos, and attorney James Kiley. Attorneys for the college defended their process as compliant with the law, while plaintiff Marvin Dunn argued the public had a right to know about such a significant transaction.
