Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Tuesday that his office has launched a formal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate, following their arrival in Florida after facing human trafficking charges in Romania.

“Based on a thorough review of the evidence, I’ve directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution to execute search warrants and issue subpoenas in the now-active criminal investigation into the Tate brothers,” Uthmeier wrote on X.

The investigation follows a preliminary inquiry into their unexpected arrival in the state. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) expressed frustration last week, saying Florida officials were not warned about the brothers’ entry.

“Florida has zero tolerance for human trafficking and violence against women,” Uthmeier stated. “If any of these alleged crimes trigger Florida jurisdiction, we will hold them accountable.”

Both Tate brothers deny the allegations and were previously restricted from travel under Romanian legal orders. It is unclear how long they plan to remain in Florida.
