An investigation is underway after a fire early Sunday morning at the Harrisburg residence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was determined to be an act of arson, according to state police.
The blaze broke out around 2:00 a.m. ET at the Governor’s Mansion, causing significant damage to part of the building. Shapiro, his wife Lori, and their four children were home at the time but in a different section of the residence. They were safely evacuated and not injured.
Photos show shattered windows and a damaged door. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or motive. On Saturday evening, Shapiro, who is Jewish, had posted a photo celebrating Passover. He later thanked law enforcement for their swift response: “They did so for our family — and Lori and I are eternally grateful.”
The Pennsylvania State Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
