Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is calling on President Trump to “strike and destroy” Iran’s nuclear facilities, arguing that negotiations with Tehran are futile. “You’re never going to be able to negotiate with that kind of regime,” Fetterman said Wednesday in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon.

His comments come as the Trump administration approaches the end of a two-month deadline to reach a deal with Iran. A third round of talks is set to take place this week, but it remains unclear if any agreement can be reached.

Fetterman dismissed concerns that a U.S. strike would escalate into regional war and criticized Iranian proxy groups Hezbollah and Hamas. He also reiterated his support for Israel, calling for a more forceful approach: “The negotiations should be comprised of 30,000-pound bombs and the IDF.”

While Trump has shown confidence in the talks, Fetterman warned against any deal resembling the Obama-era nuclear agreement, which he called inadequate.
