Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) became the first Senate Democrat to join former President Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, using his debut post to advocate for pardoning Trump in his hush money case. “The Trump hush money and Hunter Biden cases were both bullshit, and pardons are appropriate,” Fetterman wrote, criticizing the judiciary’s perceived partisan motivations.

Fetterman echoed this stance last week on The View, arguing that both cases—Trump’s conviction over hush money payments and Hunter Biden’s charges—have eroded public confidence in the judicial system. “We cannot allow these kinds of institutions to be weaponized against our political opponents,” he stated.

Trump was convicted in May on 34 felony counts related to payments made to Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign but has not yet been sentenced. Similarly, Hunter Biden, pardoned by President Joe Biden after pleading guilty to tax and firearm charges, awaits sentencing. Biden’s pardon has been controversial, with critics from both parties citing it as precedent for Trump’s legal team to seek similar relief.

Fetterman joins other Democrats, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, in creating a presence on Truth Social, Trump’s platform.
