Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has taken a collaborative approach to Trump’s second administration, contrasting with most Democrats’ critical stance. He has engaged with controversial nominees like defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, despite not sitting on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Fetterman criticized fellow Democrats for opposing nominees such as Tulsi Gabbard for intelligence director and RFK Jr. for HHS. He defended his efforts, saying, “I’m here to have conversations.”

Fetterman also joined Truth Social, questioning judicial “weaponization” in Trump and Hunter Biden cases and endorsing pardons for both. Known for his independence, he supported Trump’s Cabinet nominees, including Dr. Mehmet Oz, Rep. Elise Stefanik, and Sen. Marco Rubio, signaling a centrist shift since his election. Analysts suggest Fetterman appeals to Pennsylvania’s moderate and working-class voters as the GOP gains ground in the state. While backing discussions, he has yet to commit to voting for some contentious nominees.
