A FEMA worker was dismissed after instructing a team responding to hurricane survivors to avoid homes displaying pro-Trump yard signs, according to FEMA. Administrator Deanne Criswell condemned the behavior as “reprehensible,” adding that the matter was referred to the Office of Special Counsel, emphasizing that FEMA’s mission is “to help people regardless of their political affiliation.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who called the incident “targeted discrimination,” shared the report initially published by The Daily Wire and directed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to investigate further.

FEMA teams are currently aiding Floridians after Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene. Criswell reiterated FEMA’s commitment to nonpartisan disaster response, stating, “I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again.”
