The latest FBI crime statistics reveal a 3% decrease in violent crime nationwide last year, including an 11.6% drop in murder and non-negligent manslaughter—the largest such decline in decades. Reported rapes also fell significantly, dropping 9.4%, while property crime decreased by 2.4%.

These declines come as GOP candidates, including former President Trump, have focused on crime as a key campaign issue, often suggesting a surge in violent crime.
