OXFORD, Mississippi — Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and the organization’s new CEO, said this week that plans to support Vice President JD Vance in a potential 2028 presidential bid are “in the works.” Her comments came during an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Channel,” where she said one of her husband’s final conversations centered on intentionally backing Vance for a future White House run.

Kirk emphasized that TPUSA remains focused on the 2026 midterms but acknowledged Vance’s rising national profile. She said the organization is proud to have helped return Donald Trump to office and noted that discussions about 2028 should wait until after next year’s elections.

Her remarks follow a Turning Point USA event in Oxford, Mississippi, where she publicly praised Vance and drew comparisons between him and her late husband. The pair shared an embrace onstage that prompted online debate over its appearance, prompting Kirk to dismiss the criticism and say physical affection is part of her “love language.”

Charlie Kirk was an early supporter of Vance’s selection as vice president, and both Trump and Vance spoke at his funeral in Arizona following his assassination in Utah. Vance has not committed to a 2028 run, telling Fox News he will revisit the question after the midterms and consult with President Trump. Trump recently said Vance is “most likely” the heir to his political movement.
