Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul and founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has contributed more than $70 million to GOP causes, with a significant portion aimed at supporting Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. The donation, made through Musk’s America PAC, was disclosed in recent campaign finance filings. Musk described the PAC’s mission as promoting “common sense, centrist values.”
America PAC, formed in May, has spent over $38 million on canvassing efforts to boost voter turnout among Trump supporters, especially targeting those who rarely vote. This approach departs from traditional campaign strategies, which typically focus on persuading independent or moderate voters.
Although Musk is the top donor to the PAC, others, including the Winklevoss twins, have contributed an additional $8.75 million. So far, the PAC has spent nearly $80 million, including at least $5 million in support of Republican House candidates.
