Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) accused Attorney General Pam Bondi of pressuring about 1,000 FBI personnel to review Epstein-related files and “flag” any mention of President Trump. In letters to Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, Durbin cited “information my office received” alleging agents worked 24-hour shifts to scan 100,000 documents for Trump references.

Durbin pointed to a 2002 Trump quote calling Epstein “a terrific guy,” and a Wall Street Journal report that Trump once sent Epstein a birthday letter framed by a naked woman’s outline. He questioned why the DOJ claims no Epstein “client list” exists despite Bondi’s prior statements suggesting otherwise.

Durbin also challenged the authenticity of jail footage used to support Epstein’s official cause of death, suicide, citing metadata suggesting edits. He demanded explanations from DOJ and FBI officials by August 1.
