Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly said the change takes effect immediately for people on private insurance, as well as the uninsured. The cap puts the drugmaker in line with a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors enrolled in Medicare.
The move could prompt other big insulin producers to lower the cost of the notoriously expensive lifesaving medication, experts said.
