A man was arrested Saturday after driving his car into a crowd of protesters outside a Tesla dealership in Palm Beach County, Florida. No injuries were reported, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The demonstration was one of several held nationwide against Tesla and CEO Elon Musk, in response to Musk’s role in the Trump administration’s efforts to cut federal spending and downsize government agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency.
Authorities said Andrew Dutil drove onto the sidewalk at slow speed, forcing demonstrators to jump out of the way. He was arrested at the scene and charged with assault. No attorney for Dutil was listed in court records.
The incident follows a wave of targeted actions against Tesla-linked businesses, including Cybertrucks set on fire in Seattle and gunfire at a dealership in Oregon.
Palm Beach County is also home to President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, which he has referred to as the “Center of the Universe.”
