Democratic National Committee (DNC) official Lindy Li criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign, calling it a “billion-dollar disaster” after Harris lost to President-elect Donald Trump. Speaking on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Li, a DNC National Finance Committee member, expressed disappointment over the campaign’s financial struggles, claiming it was $18-$20 million in debt.

Li said Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, had assured supporters of a victory, which led many donors to contribute large amounts. “I feel like a lot of us were misled,” Li stated, referencing Dillon’s confidence in Harris’s win, which ultimately did not materialize.

After Harris lost in all seven battleground states, internal debates arose within the Democratic Party, with some blaming a lack of left-leaning policies, while centrists argued the party’s progressive stance alienated moderate voters in swing states. Some Democrats suggest a need to refocus on messaging and reconnect with voter concerns. Li noted that even on election night, many Democrats remained optimistic, though she herself did not share their confidence, citing discrepancies in the data she reviewed.
