Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized the power of federal district judges during an appearance on Fox News, saying the Constitution would not have been ratified if the Founders believed judges could block a president’s actions nationwide.

The comments follow a series of recent legal setbacks for the Trump administration, where judges have halted initiatives including agency closures and employee terminations by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). While President Trump and allies such as Elon Musk have called for impeachments, DeSantis stopped short of that, but agreed the judiciary has overstepped.

“If the founding generation believed the Constitution actually authorized that, it would not have been ratified,” DeSantis told host Mark Levin.

Trump’s administration has clashed with courts on multiple fronts. Federal judges have ruled that DOGE overstepped its authority and must reinstate fired employees.

DeSantis said the judiciary is serving a partisan function, blocking Trump’s agenda. “It’s to throw whatever sand in the gears they can to prevent President Trump from being successful,” he said.
