Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dismissed Vice President Kamala Harris’s criticism as “delusional” after she accused him of engaging in “political gamesmanship” for reportedly not taking her calls while preparing for Hurricane Milton. DeSantis, speaking on Fox News, emphasized his focus on leveraging all available resources, including federal support, to address the storm’s anticipated landfall on Wednesday. He noted that he has been coordinating with both President Biden and FEMA officials.

DeSantis criticized Harris for attempting to politicize the situation, asserting that she has not contributed to hurricane relief efforts during her time as Vice President. In response, Harris had told reporters earlier that prioritizing political games over disaster relief was “selfish” and “irreconcilable.”

DeSantis, highlighting his cooperative track record with both the Trump and Biden administrations during previous storms, stated that his focus is solely on the safety of Floridians, dismissing Harris’s comments as part of her political campaign. Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Tampa, with evacuation orders in place, and DeSantis has suspended tolls to facilitate smoother evacuations.
