German news outlet Der Spiegel has uncovered private contact information for several senior Trump administration officials involved in a recent Signal group chat breach. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz all had personal data exposed, according to the report.
The outlet found that each official’s phone number and email address were accessible on the dark web. Hegseth’s details, including an active email address and mobile number, were obtained from a commercial marketing data provider. Leaked user data also linked his credentials to a now-deleted WhatsApp account.
Waltz’s information connected to his Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Signal accounts, along with passwords found in public leaks. Gabbard’s email address appeared on Reddit and WikiLeaks with associations to her encrypted messaging profiles.
The breach is under scrutiny following the accidental inclusion of Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg in a Signal chat about U.S. strikes in Yemen. Trump downplayed the incident as a “glitch,” calling media coverage a “witch hunt.”
