A group of House Democrats is urging the Oversight and Government Reform Committee to hold a hearing featuring victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, arguing their firsthand accounts are critical to the investigation.
The letter, led by Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and joined by Reps. Robert Garcia (D-CA), Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), Ro Khanna (D-CA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and others, states that releasing unredacted Epstein files alone will not tell the full story. They contend testimony from survivors is essential, warning that focusing on Maxwell’s testimony without hearing from victims risks compounding trauma and spreading misinformation.
The lawmakers emphasized that some survivors have expressed willingness to testify and that Congress must meet their “strength and bravery with action.”
Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has subpoenaed Maxwell, delaying her deposition until after the Supreme Court considers her appeal. Comer also subpoenaed the Department of Justice and several former officials, including Bill and Hillary Clinton.
The Trump administration has faced bipartisan criticism over its handling of Epstein-related records.
