Democrats are calling for an investigation into Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) after disclosures revealed she bought multiple stocks during the market downturn following President Donald Trump‘s sweeping tariff announcement on April 2.

Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas) said Thursday, “We need an investigation into insider trading by people like Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene,” suggesting potential political tip-offs may have benefited Greene and others. Greene’s spokesperson dismissed the idea of a probe as “utterly absurd.”

According to Congressional trade tracker Insiderfinance.io, Greene disclosed purchasing 26 stock trades across April 3 and 4—including Apple, Dell, and Lululemon—days before Trump paused the tariffs on April 9, sparking a short-lived market rally.

Lawmakers must disclose trades under the STOCK Act, though they’re permitted to buy and sell. Critics say the timing raises questions about whether non-public knowledge influenced Greene’s activity.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and other Democrats have already called for a broader investigation into possible insider trading within Trump’s administration amid market swings tied to tariff policy.
