Washington, D.C.Democrats are vowing to challenge what they describe as a “full-blown cover-up” after the Trump administration declared its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein effectively closed, despite continued demands for the release of millions of additional documents.

The Justice Department on Friday released more than three million pages of records tied to Epstein, which Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said marked full compliance with a federal law requiring disclosure of all investigative materials. Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Blanche said the department reviewed more than six million documents, along with thousands of videos and images, and that “this review is over.”

That declaration drew immediate backlash from Democrats and at least one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who argue the public has seen only about half of the relevant files. Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, said the release included more than 10,000 redactions and questioned why millions of additional documents remain unreleased despite a federal statute and congressional subpoenas requiring full disclosure.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said transparency demands have not been met, while Rep. Ro Khanna, a co-author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, said survivors and their attorneys remain frustrated by both missing documents and redaction errors. Lawyers representing more than 200 Epstein victims have since asked a federal court to force the DOJ to remove publicly posted records that identify victims by name.

The files released so far mention prominent figures including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew, all of whom deny wrongdoing. Republicans aligned with Trump continue to dismiss the controversy, while Massie has faced political retaliation for backing further disclosure.
