David Hogg’s political group, Leaders We Deserve, donated $100,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) following backlash over its plans to fund primary challengers against long-serving Democratic incumbents, Axios reported.
The donation, made Thursday, came just days after Hogg announced the group would spend $20 million backing younger Democrats in safe blue districts. Critics, including Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-Mich.), had argued the funds would be better used in competitive races to help Democrats reclaim the House.
Hogg denied the donation was a conciliatory move, writing on X: “This is not me playing nice. It is demonstrating my commitment to winning back the house and making Hakeem Jeffries the Speaker.”
He also reaffirmed his intent to push older members out: “We absolutely cannot wait for people to retire at their own leisure or to let them sit there and do nothing while the country is burning.”
Meanwhile, the DCCC raised $36.9 million in Q1 of 2025, narrowly outpacing the NRCC’s $36.7 million haul.
