CNN has refuted claims that it edited a recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, despite online allegations from supporters of former President Donald Trump. The 27-minute interview aired on Thursday, and some Trump allies speculated that the original recording was 41 minutes long, implying that significant portions were removed.
Billionaire Trump supporter Bill Ackman fueled the theory with a post on X, which was later deleted. CNN, however, confirmed to The Hill that the interview aired in its entirety, and anchor Dana Bash had emphasized at the start that the full interview would be broadcast.
The interview, considered a critical moment for Harris, allowed her to address accusations that her policy positions had shifted since her 2020 presidential campaign. Harris defended her consistency, stating her “values have not changed,” and she avoided discussing the politics of fracking while focusing on the need to address climate change.
When asked about Trump’s criticisms of her race, Harris dismissed them as part of the “old, tired playbook” and requested to move on. Trump later responded to the interview by calling Harris “defective.”
