In a podcast interview with Mediaite’s Aidan McLaughlin, CNN anchor Chris Wallace took aim at his former network, Fox News, for its coverage of the 2020 presidential election and its handling of resulting lawsuits. Wallace, who left Fox in 2021, said he supports conservative and liberal opinions but draws the line at “conspiracy and lies,” stating that “the truth is non-negotiable.”

Wallace expressed satisfaction that Fox agreed to pay a settlement to Dominion Voting Systems after being sued for airing false claims about its software following the 2020 election. He criticized Fox’s decision to cater to conservative outlets over facts and praised the legal repercussions the network faced.

Reflecting on moderating debates, Wallace also took a jab at ABC’s David Muir and Linsey Davis, arguing that moderators should stay out of the spotlight, as excessive intervention makes them “the story.” Wallace has been a target of Donald Trump’s critiques due to his firm fact-checking during debates.
