The CBP One app, which facilitated appointments for nearly 1 million immigrants to present themselves legally at U.S. ports of entry under the Biden administration, was deactivated as President Donald Trump took office on January 20, 2025. A message on the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) website confirmed the app’s functionalities are no longer available, and all existing appointments have been canceled.
The decision disappointed many waiting to cross the border, including Maria Mercado from Colombia, who became emotional after learning her scheduled appointment was canceled. Trump has pledged to declare a national emergency at the southern border, reinstate the “remain in Mexico” policy, and complete the border wall. These measures signal stricter immigration policies ahead, though they are expected to face legal challenges.
