Caroline Kennedy publicly called on senators to reject her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as President Trump’s nominee for Health and Human Services secretary, calling him a “predator.” In a letter shared on social media, she recounted disturbing childhood memories, alleging he once fed baby animals to his hawks in a drug-fueled environment.
While acknowledging his recovery from addiction, she criticized his anti-vaccine rhetoric despite vaccinating his own children and raised concerns over his financial ties to pharmaceutical litigation. “It’s incomprehensible that someone exploiting family tragedies for publicity would be put in charge of life and death decisions,” she wrote.
RFK Jr.’s confirmation hearing is set for Wednesday. Healthcare professionals and political figures have urged senators to reject him. He previously ran an independent presidential campaign before endorsing Trump, who promised him a cabinet role.
