Attorney General Pam Bondi said Sunday she has received death threats for pursuing the death penalty against Luigi Mangione, the man charged with the December murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

“I was receiving death threats for seeking the death penalty on someone who was charged with an execution of a CEO,” Bondi said on Fox News Sunday. She noted President Trump’s directive on capital punishment was “very clear,” adding, “We’re not going to be deterred by political motives.”

Mangione, who has pleaded not guilty to state murder and terrorism charges in New York, also faces federal charges of murder and stalking.

Bondi also pushed back on criticism of Trump’s legal challenges, calling the volume of lawsuits filed against the administration the true “constitutional crisis.” Since January, she said, more than 170 lawsuits and 50 injunctions have targeted Trump’s executive orders.

In reference to blocked Trump policies — including the transgender military ban — Bondi described judges as playing “a game of whack-a-mole” and said the administration is appealing cases to the Supreme Court.
