Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) announced she would offer guided tours of the Capitol to the Jan. 6 rioters who received pardons from President Trump. Boebert made this statement outside a Washington, D.C., jail where some defendants were held. She mentioned that Trump signed a pardon for approximately 1,500 rioters, demanding their release.
Boebert expressed her hope that the remaining 22 defendants would be released soon. Trump granted these pardons as one of his first official acts as president. About 600 defendants were accused of assaulting, resisting, or impeding police, and ten were convicted of sedition. Boebert criticized the time these individuals had spent in jail, stating they should never have been incarcerated.
