Bill Gates, former Microsoft CEO, dined with President-elect Donald Trump in a three-hour meeting focused on public health, curing HIV, and combating polio in developing nations. Gates praised Trump’s enthusiasm and credited him for accelerating vaccine innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic, expressing hope for similar advancements in other health initiatives.
The dinner, also attended by incoming White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, follows Trump’s meetings with other prominent entrepreneurs, including Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the latter leading the Department of Government Efficiency.
Gates, who donated $50 million to Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, has signaled willingness to collaborate with any leader committed to global health and climate issues. “I support candidates focused on reducing poverty and fighting climate change,” Gates told The New York Times last October.
