Bill Gates intensified his long-running feud with Elon Musk on Thursday, accusing the world’s richest man of “killing” children by backing USAID budget cuts that stripped funding from critical global health programs. In an interview with the Financial Times, Gates condemned Musk’s role in defunding maternal health and infectious disease prevention efforts in regions like Gaza and Mozambique.

“The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one,” Gates said, referencing how cuts allegedly left food and HIV medications stranded in warehouses.

Gates specifically criticized Musk for canceling grants aimed at preventing mother-to-child HIV transmission—programs Musk reportedly dismissed as funding for “condoms,” a claim Gates said was false and dangerous.

The remarks came as Gates pledged to donate “virtually all” of his wealth through the Gates Foundation over the next two decades, focusing on public health, disease prevention, and poverty reduction. Those goals, he said, have been undermined by the Trump administration’s and Musk’s defunding of humanitarian aid via USAID.

Musk and DOGE did not respond to requests for comment.
