President Joe Biden cut short a trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to return to Washington and meet with his national security team following an unprecedented air attack on Israel by Iran. The attack included a significant number of drones and missiles. Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirming America’s ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.

In a statement, Biden condemned the attacks and noted that the U.S. military had moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the past week, helping Israel intercept nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles. He praised Israel’s capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks.

Biden also announced plans to convene his fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s attack. He assured that his team would engage with their counterparts across the region and stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. He emphasized that while there have been no attacks on U.S. forces or facilities, the U.S. will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect its people.
