President Biden expressed gratitude for family, a peaceful presidential transition, and progress in the Middle East during a Thanksgiving visit to a fire station in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Speaking to reporters, Biden highlighted the recent U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon as a significant achievement. He also voiced appreciation for the resilience of Americans, saying, “There is nothing beyond our capacity.”

Biden’s remarks on the transition of power follow his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, a gesture contrasting the 2020 election, when Trump did not meet with Biden. The Oval Office meeting, described as “cordial and gracious” by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, underscored Biden’s commitment to a smooth transition. Biden noted, “I want to make sure this transition goes smoothly,” adding that the process might involve an “internal reckoning” for Trump.
