President Joe Biden reflected on his tenure in a candid interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, days before leaving office. Biden acknowledged spending more focus on policy than politics, calling it a key mistake of his presidency.

Discussing his decision not to sign COVID-19 stimulus checks, Biden admitted it was an oversight not to highlight Democratic contributions, a lesson he attributed to former President Trump’s approach. While he deemed boasting “bad taste,” Biden stressed the importance of ensuring credit is appropriately attributed.

In his farewell address, Biden warned of threats to democracy, calling for constitutional amendments to prevent presidential immunity from prosecution. He expressed serious concern about the fragility of democratic systems, stating, “I really think we’re at an inflection point in history.”

Biden dropped his reelection bid in July, endorsing Vice President Harris, who later lost to President-elect Trump. Biden’s departure marks a significant political transition.
