Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, his office revealed Sunday.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” the statement said. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

A Gleason score of 9 indicates the highest grade of prostate cancer, associated with rapid growth and spread. Despite the severity, Biden’s doctors said the cancer is “hormone-sensitive,” allowing for possible effective treatment.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement continued. Biden and his family are currently exploring treatment options with medical specialists.

This development follows recent reports detailing concerns among former aides about the former president’s health during the final years of his administration.
