Biden recalled the harrowing Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas, which resulted in over a thousand Israeli fatalities, and clarified, “What’s happening is not genocide. We reject that. We’ll always stand with Israel against threats to its security.”
The President also highlighted ongoing efforts to negotiate the release of hostages taken during the attacks, expressing determination to bring them home. His stance on Israel has been balanced, advocating for Israel’s right to self-defense while calling for increased humanitarian aid to Gaza and greater civilian protection.
Biden’s remarks were unequivocal: “We stand with Israel to take out Sinwar and the rest of the butchers of Hamas. We want Hamas defeated.”
Condemning the rise in antisemitism, particularly on college campuses, Biden stated, “There’s no place in America for antisemitism or hate speech of any kind.”
Doug Emhoff, the Second Gentleman, also spoke, acknowledging the challenges faced by Jewish Americans and reiterating the administration’s dedication to combating hate and fostering unity.
