With $155 million available, the campaign highlighted this as the highest amount ever held by a Democratic candidate at this stage in the election cycle. Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager, emphasized the strategic use of these funds for expanding voter outreach, media investments, and nationwide campaigning by key figures, indicating an early start to a comprehensive election strategy.
Contrasting their success with the financial and operational challenges faced by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC), Rodriguez critiqued their approach and underscored the high stakes of the upcoming election. She suggested that the Biden campaign’s historic fundraising efforts are essential for educating voters about the significance of their choices in November.
In addition to February’s record, the campaign also highlighted a significant boost in donations following Biden’s State of the Union address, with $10 million raised within 24 hours, marking the largest single-day fundraising total for this election cycle. An aggressive advertising campaign has also been launched, with a $30 million expenditure over six weeks, surpassing the total spend since Biden’s reelection bid announcement.
On the other side, the Trump campaign and the RNC face fundraising difficulties, notably impacted by the considerable legal expenses incurred by Trump. The RNC began 2024 with just over $8 million in cash on hand, reflecting a challenging fundraising landscape following a disappointing performance in 2023.
