The Biden administration has released a directive allowing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) participants to enroll in the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) health insurance. This move, effective from November 1, grants these immigrants access to tax breaks when signing up for coverage.

Despite criticism from conservatives, this action could boost Biden’s appeal among Latinos. Health official Xavier Becerra stated that this would “improve their health and well-being and strengthen the health and well-being of our nation and our economy.”

The administration refrained from expanding Medicaid eligibility for these migrants after receiving over 20,000 comments on the proposal. It is predicted that of the 800,000 eligible migrants, only 100,000 will sign up due to alternative coverage options and potential affordability issues.
