President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Saturday following an apparent shooting at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania. Biden condemned the violence, stating, “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s sick.” He expressed his hope to speak to Trump and mentioned that he had heard the former president was “doing well.” Biden emphasized the need for unity and declared that political violence is unacceptable.

Trump was rushed off the stage by Secret Service agents after loud popping sounds were heard, with blood apparently splattered on his face. Law enforcement officials and a local district attorney reported that one bystander and the apparent gunman were killed at the rally. The Trump campaign stated that the ex-president was “fine” after the incident.

Biden reiterated that Trump should have been able to conduct his rally peacefully and called on everyone to condemn the violence. He also released a written statement expressing gratitude to the Secret Service and calling for national unity against such acts of violence.
