London, United Kingdom — A British court has heard testimony that Barron Trump called UK emergency services after witnessing a woman being assaulted during a FaceTime call, an intervention prosecutors say may have helped save her life.
During proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, jurors were told that Trump, then 19, dialed the UK’s 999 emergency number at approximately 2:23 a.m. on January 18, 2025, after seeing the woman being attacked by a man identified as Matvei Rumiantsev. According to prosecutors, Trump provided the woman’s address and repeatedly emphasized the urgency of the situation while remaining on the line with dispatchers.
Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old former MMA fighter from Russia, is accused of assault, actual bodily harm, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prosecutors allege jealousy played a central role, claiming Rumiantsev became enraged after learning the woman was in contact with Trump earlier that evening.
Jurors heard recordings of Trump describing what he saw on the call, including hearing screaming and seeing the woman being struck. Police body-worn camera footage later showed officers asking whether the assault had been streamed live. The woman testified that Trump’s decision to call authorities “helped save my life.”
Defense counsel has characterized the allegations as fabricated, while the trial continues with cross-examination and witness testimony expected in the coming days.
