The group’s president, Marjorie Dannenfelser, argued that unborn children and their mothers deserve national protections. She warned that ceding the issue to the states could allow Democrats to enact legislation mandating abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) disagreed with Trump’s stance, arguing that the pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child, not geography. He advocated for a national minimum standard limiting abortion at fifteen weeks, with exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. He pointed out that 47 of 50 European countries have national limits on abortions between 12 and 15 weeks.
