The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) began airing a new ad campaign Tuesday against Senate Democrats who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders’ motions to block U.S. military aid to Israel. The six-figure campaign targets 11 states through television and social media.

The measures, which failed in the Senate, sought to block $8.8 billion in weapons to Israel. Sanders criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza and cited humanitarian concerns. Senators voting with Sanders included Elizabeth Warren, Tim Kaine, Chris Murphy, Dick Durbin, and others.

AIPAC spokesperson Marshall Wittman accused Sanders of “jeopardizing the safety and security of the Jewish state” and said the ads aim to inform constituents about senators’ votes.

On the Senate floor, Sanders criticized AIPAC’s influence on campaign financing, saying the group has punished lawmakers opposing aid to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government. He referenced AIPAC-backed defeats of former Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush.

Support for Israel has become more polarized. A recent Gallup poll showed 46% of Americans sympathize more with Israelis, while 33% side with Palestinians—reflecting a notable shift among Democrats.
