The Arizona Supreme Court’s recent ruling to enforce a 19th-century law effectively banning all abortions in the state has intensified the abortion debate ahead of the November elections. Democrats are using the ruling to criticize Republicans, with Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., attributing the situation to former President Donald Trump.
A Wall Street Journal poll found that 45% of voters trust President Joe Biden more than Trump (33%) on abortion. However, on key issues like the economy, immigration, and border security, Trump leads Biden by 20 points. Despite this, Biden’s reelection campaign released an ad blaming Trump for a Texas woman’s near-death experience due to denied abortion.
Meanwhile, a Quinnipiac poll showed that only 3% of voters consider abortion as the most urgent issue facing the country, with the economy and immigration topping the list.
