DES MOINES, Iowa — President Trump is set to announce a $12 billion farm aid package Monday aimed at stabilizing the agricultural sector after years of low crop prices, tariff pressures and mounting financial losses. According to reporting from Bloomberg, the new Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) program will offer direct relief to producers facing tightening credit conditions as the 2026 planting season approaches.

A White House official said the announcement will take place at an event attended by farmers, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. The program follows steep losses across the farming sector, with more than $50 billion in damage recorded over the past three crop years, according to American Farm Bureau Federation economist John Newton.

Newton said many farmers cannot secure operating loans without confirmed federal support, intensifying the need for immediate assistance. Rollins previously previewed the program during a December Cabinet meeting, saying the administration aimed to help farmers “recover from the Biden years.”

The FBA is expected to provide up to $11 billion in payments to growers of soybeans, pork and other crops affected by retaliatory tariffs. Additional funds will support producers whose commodities fall outside the program’s core categories. Officials say the effort is designed as a temporary bridge until farm policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act take effect in 2026.
